Our Food

Seafood is a specialty, with Mersea oysters available year-round and Colchester natives, when in season. Also on the Oyster Bar are whole cracked Norfolk crabs, Harwich lobster, fabulous Smoked haddock chowder and House cured organic salmon & smoked fish platter.

Other starters may include: - Char-grilled rosemary brochette of chicken liver & smoked streaky bacon on homemade sourdough toast, - Heirloom tomato and Ticklemore goat cheese salad, - Mussels in cioppino sauce with parsley fried bread, or - a plate of good Salami, Parma ham, cheese and salads

Fresh, as in with-a-glint-still-in-its-eye, fish is locally landed or from Ben’s Fish in Mersea Island and could offer: - Skate in ginger black butter, - Char-grilled South Coast calamari ‘a la plancha’ or - Seafood stew of shellfish with local wild bass.

Other main courses include: - Flattened Free-range chicken with salted lemon & smoked paprika, - Char-grilled Suffolk lamb steak with mint vinaigrette, or - Peppered rib eye steak with wild rocket, onion strings and hand cut fries.
